Governor Ifeanyi Okowa ... victory steps. |
The Supreme Court today, Wednesday, January 8, 2020 upheld the election of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State and dismissed the appeal by Great Ogboru of the APC challenging the victory of Okowa and his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP’s) victory at the poll held in Delta State.
The judgment, an upper cut defeat, has therefore confirmed Ogboru as a serial loser in all the governorship elections as well as all the court cases he instituted to challenge his serial defeat.
In the judgment, Justice Centus Nweze held that the apex court had no reason to upturn the concurrent decisions of the lower court.
“The appeal had been rightly described at the Court of Appeal as a metaphor of forensic Golgotha.
“The appellant woefully failed to prove over-voting polling unit by polling unit as required by law.
“In the circumstance, the appeal is bereft of any iota convincing evidence and it is hereby dismissed. Ifeanyi Okowa is therefore affirmed as governor of Delta State,” Justice Nweze said.
It would be recalled that the Court of Appeal had in a unanimous decision by a panel of five justices affirmed the Okowa’s victory at the poll.
