2019: PDP set to win In 36 states, assures Okowa



Delta State Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa has assured Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faithful that the party is set to win all the states of the federation in the 2019 general elections.
Speaking Thursday at Owa Ekei, Ika North-East Local Government Area of Delta State to  PDP faithful after the local government congress in the area, the Governor said, though Delta State was the home of PDP, the peaceful Ward and Local Government congresses were clear evidence that the reconciliation and consensus efforts of the party was effective.
"I congratulate the chairman and those who were elected into the executive committee of the party at the local government areas, including the national delegates; I must thank our party leaders because what we witnessed today, shows unity and strength; we had very peaceful congresses not only in Ika North-East but the 25 local government areas of Delta State," he said, stating, "we have engaged in the process of reconciliation and building consensus and the peace we are enjoying in our party today is a product of hard work."

He said "Because we worked hard, we had a peaceful congress and we have seen a wonderful showing that we love ourselves and the consensus we have built is good for us."
The Governor who observed that the PDP was getting stronger all over the country, reiterated: "We are confident that going into the future, we will win all the states of the federation; we must continue to build consensus, we must be able to build friendship and ensure that every voice is heard; we have always won elections in Delta State but we cannot go to sleep."

Declaring the result of the congress in the local government, the PDP Returning Officer in the local government, Mr Chux Nwaebuni thanked the people for their orderly conduct which led to the peaceful elections.

According to the result he declared, Chief Godwin Ogadi was re-elected as Chairman, and Mr Johnbull Miti elected as Deputy Chairman.

Others who clinched different positions during the congress were Mr. Hubert Obiagwe (Secretary), Mrs Ngozi Onyedum (Assistant Secretary), Chief Rufus Uzochi (Publicity Secretary), Hon. Igah Samuel (Assistant Publicity Secretary), Hon. Lawrence Eziokwu (Treasurer), Sir Mark Idegwu (Auditor), Mr Itoroh Donstus (Legal Adviser), Mr Odum Andrew (Financial Secretary), Hon. Aghanti Godwin (Organizing Secretary), Mrs Ikem Virgina (Woman Leader), Mr Idehen Alfred (Youth Leader), Mr Sylvanus Tudeme (Ex-officio), Mr Joseph Okorie (Ex-Officio), Chief Ben Obuh (Ex-Officio), Mrs Orie Catherine (Ex-officio) and Mrs Omashor Nkechi (Ex-officio).

Former Commissioner for Transport in the state, Chief Lawrence Osiegbu emerged as national delegate.
In his acceptance speech, the newly elected Local Government Party Chairman, Chief Ogadi, assured party faithful that he would work with his team to mend fences and bring in more members from other parties into PDP.
