Delta State Commissioner for Transport, Mr. Vincent Uduaghan has stated
that the ban on motorcycle (okada) operations either for private or
commercial purposes is still in-force in some areas of the State.
The Commissioner made the remark to debunk a comment
by Martins Jessa that the ban has been lifted.
In a statement, the Commissioner declared that the ban on all
motorcycle operations in Ethiope East Local Government Area,
particularly Abraka town is still in force, adding that the State
Government has not lifted the ban in any form or manner.
Mr. Uduaghan enjoined the general public, especially those living in
places where the ban on motorcycle operations has been placed to
disregard Mr. Martins Jessa’s statement which he described as totally
misleading.
He warned that those that flout the law would be
sanctioned accordingly.
Meanwhile, the police and other law enforcement agencies have been
called upon to continue to monitor the operations of motorcycles in
places where the ban is still in force.
