Delta State Deputy Governor, Barr. Kingsley Burutu Otuaro has slammed
the incessant attacks on oil installations in the Niger Delta region.
Otuaro in
disparaging the attacks in Asaba on Friday, May 13th, 2016, while hosting a
delegation of the National Council of Chiefs from Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri
South-West Local Government Area of the State, led by High Chief Gbenewei Clark
on courtesy call, said pipeline vandalism and attacks on oil installations in
the region are worrisome developments and therefore unacceptable by the State
Government. He announced that the State Government will partner with all
willing groups and persons and use all security apparatus to fight these ills that
are stalling economic development of the country.

The Deputy
Governor disclosed that the State Government has set up institutional frameworks
to drive the State forward, and charged youths in the State to shelve any act
of criminality and take advantage of the ongoing numerous empowerment and job
creation programmes of the State Government.
Otuaro advised them
to key into the programmes them to empower themselves instead of engaging in
criminal acts.
He said he
appreciated the leaders of Gbaramatu Kingdom’s efforts and willingness to
partner with government at all levels to bring an end to the nefarious acts of
bombing oil installations in the Region.
While thanking
the delegations from Gbaramatu Kingdom for the warm solidarity and courtesy
call on him, the Deputy Governor appealed to them to make available to security
agencies information that could lead to tracking of the criminal and
undesirable elements perpetrating the evil acts in their midst.
Earlier, the
Acting Secretary of the National Council of Chiefs from Gbaramatu Kingdom, High
Chief Godspower Gbenekama, who spoke on behalf of the visitors, decried pipe vandalism
in the region, describing the syndrome as appalling, pointing out that the
leaders of the kingdom condemned it with utmost disgust.
He called on
government at all levels to join forces together and partner with communities
in the area to end the attacks, adding that Gbaramatu Kingdom is ready and
willing to partner with security agencies of the Government to fight the ills.
On moves to
fish out persons from their communities, the Acting Secretary of Gbaramatu
Kingdom Council of Chiefs said their visit was a visit of solidarity with the
government and on how to fathom out a plan to sanitize and sensitize their
people. He disclosed that series of meetings have been held with community
leaders ensure that criminal elements do not come in to perpetrate their evil
acts or hide in their midst.
The visitors
used the opportunity to congratulate the Deputy Governor for his present
position and commend the good work he is doing. They thank and appreciated the
Almighty God that for the first time in history, their son is the number two man
in the State.
