A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor ifeanyi Okowa, Mr. Charlws Ehiedu Aniagwu said the incident was not an attack on Government House Annex Warri, but a robbery incident that occurred when a driver attached to the Delta Waterways Security Committee Chairman, Chief Boro Opudu was trailed by armed robbers while returning from the bank.
The statement reads: “The driver gallantly made his way to the Delta Government House Annex in Warri but sustained serious gunshot wounds on his way back to the Annex and subsequently died while he was being rushed to the hospital.
“The robbers could not make away with the money he was carrying because the security operatives were able to repel the rampaging robbers before they got to the Annex, Warri.

“While we regret the loss of the driver, two of the three robbers were arrested by the military while one was arrested by the police.”
