Okeme commisserates with late Isichei family


The Special Adviser to the Delta state governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa on SERVICOM and Labour Relations, Comrade Mike Okeme, has emphasised the need for the establishment of a Veteran Association in the state.
Comrade Okeme, who advocated this when he led a team of Advisory Committee on Labour Matters in the state to pay a condolence visit to the family of late former Vice Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Delta Chapter, late Samuel Isichei, in Asaba said that the news of his death of was a great shock to him and others.
He reiterated that death was a price everybody on earth must pay whenever the time comes, noting that late Comrade Samuel Isichei would be remembered by all for his dogged fight and struggle in the labour movement which according to him won him the name’ General’.
Comrade Okeme, who was sorrowful over the death, noted the fact that late Comrade Isichei was known in labour movement as a mover because of his peculiar nature of producing positive result in every task he was appointed as the Head of Committee.
While thanking God for a life well spent, as he lived his later days in the worship of God and humility, he described him as a refined gentleman and a jolly good fellow whose death would not be easily forgotten by all Deltans mostly the various  labour unions in general.
Meanwhile, the Special Adviser stressed the importance of establishing a Veteran Association in the state in honour of the fallen hero, popularly called ‘General’ Isichei which would among other things; cater for the welfare of the labour movement in the state.
For his part, Comrade (Dr) F.O.P Nwugo, former Chairman Nigeria Civil Service Union (NCSU), from 1992 to 2001, said that his joy about Comrade Isichei’s death was that he died in the hands of God, adding that it was always a thing of joy for one to end his sojourn here on earth by dying in the hands of the Lord Jesus Christ.
He said that Comrade Isichei would surely have eternal life, adding that his transaction was a smooth one as he ended life in Christ.
Responding, the wife of the Comrade Isichei, Mrs. Joy Isichei thanked the Special Adviser for the visit, saying that it had really encouraged her a lot.
Among the Advisory Committee members that were present at the occasion were Comrade Jerry E, Okousun, Chairman AUPCTCRE, Comrade(Elder)  Tony Toki, Chairman NCSU, Comrade Menone N.O, Secretary AUPCTCRE, Comrade V.A Uchuno, Pioneer Secretary NUT, Delta  state, Comrade Ofuonyeadi Innocent, state Secretary NLC, Comrade Victor Ogbogu, Ex state Secretary NLC and Comrade Alex Akpe, State Secretary RATTAWU.

It would be recalled that late Comrade Samuel Isichei was the former Vice Chairman NLC under the leadership of Comrade Ovuozuorie Macaulay and also the former state Chairman of National Union of Printing, Publishing and Paper Products Workers (NUPPPPROW).
